This site is in a windy corridor of salty Salish sea air! Plants here need to be salt and wind tolerant as well as drought and deer resistant! I’ve planted quite a few of these gorgeous evergreen PNW native plant, Myrica californica or Pacific Wax Myrtle with great success. It’s difficult to find as larger specimens now as it’s a highly coveted plant for this climate but I managed, thanks to Kimoff Nursery on the Saanich Peninsula.
